Know anything about Copper Sinks??

I'm thinking of installing a copper kitchen sink under granite slab on old cabinetry recently stripped and repainted white in an effort to update an old kitchen.

Anyone know anything about copper sinks? Have any pros/cons?

Wondering what the longevity of a copper sink is?

I've read they don't turn green but instead a caramel brown color. Is this true?

Any concerns for resale? Would this scare a buyer off?

the only ones I have ever seen had turned almost a brownish black.

their are a ton of chemicals that will mess that up ie bleach, ect....

you could scew one up without even trying.


just think of the old gutters you have seen and go from there.


Stainless Steel is much easier on the eye

It might not be too bad if the entire sink changed color evenly, but they do not. The sink will develop a "blotchy" appearance as some areas remain copper while other spots tarnish. Even if the sink were to have a protective coating, it will still be damaged and discolor at those points.

"patinated"? That sounds like preweathering it so it looks like it is already 20 years old.

I wouldn't agree with that. If properly care about copper sink it'll las really long. Copper sinks is definetly something original and it's worth trying.
