just installed new pressure switch, gauge, dual whole house filters, to a t off a 90, bottom of t goes to tank, and side goes to softner/house. not sure what mal uction is, but bladder tank is not filling, haven't adjusted anything, pressure switch was preset to 20/40, switch quickly cycles on and off and then trips off when open a valve or anything, not sure what else to put for info, need to get this fixed asap.

With no pressure in the system, check the bladder pressure. If it is essentially zero, the tank will fill and simply remain full. If the pressure is anywhere around 40, the tank will always be empty. With your switch set at 20/40, the bladder should have a pre-charge of about 18 psi when there is no pressure in the overall system.

leejosepho is right! You have too much air in the tank. Most tanks come with either 28 or 38 PSI of air. You need to let it down to 18 PSI to work with a 20/40 switch. Read the link above about pressure tank maintenance for a bladder tank.
