I am considering adding an additional "cottage" about 25 feet away from the existing house, and about 50' away from the well.

I would like to learn about the ability of the well to serve this new cottage.

Thanks for any replys,
Molo

"Cottage" usage is usually low and intermittent, including variations between weekends and weekdays.

If you estimate that usage is 250 gallons per day for one cottage, try pumping 500 gallons per day for a few days, using a garden hose or something. You can esitmate how much water you use by determining the GPM constant usage that allows the pump to run continuously in the mid-range of the pressure switch; then put an electric clock on the pump (make sure you connect the clock at 120 Volts) and measure minutes per day of pumping.

I would be surprised if the well and pump can't keep up. You might notice a few short periods of lower pressure but that shouldn't be a problem in a cottage environment.

Hey, wait a minute.

This is awkward, but...
