Thread: rack in a fiberglass shower floor?

  1. #1

Default rack in a fiberglass shower floor?

There is a crack (about 3 inches long) in our shower floor. The shower is a fiberglass (or plastic? or acrylic?) unit. Is there some way the crack can be fixed or the floor sealed to avoid the possibility of leakage? Or what would be the best way to handle this?
    Thanks

The best way to handle this, is to replace the shower base.

If you are looking to patch it up, you could try some PL adhesive, but there is no gaurentee its going to work

There are some places that can refinish and repair this stuff but you have to decide if the cost is worth it verses replacement.

You mention replacing the base. What would that entail?

Largely depends on how it is installed and if you can buy the same one again.

What's on the floor around the base? Do the base/walls have a nailing flange that is nailed to the wall studs and is now under drywall?

Way more detail is needed and photos of course are worth at least 1,000 words.
