guys,

we just moved in another house that had a dishwasher. the dishwasher works fine, it cleans the dishes and runs through it's normal cycle; but once it completes the cycle, it just starts a new one again and again. what we end up having to do is keep an eye on it, and when it finishes its cycle we have to open the door ajar to keep it cut off. Anytime the door is completely shut, the dishwasher runs.

You should look for the wiring diagram. But off the top of my head, I can't think of another component except the timer which could cause that.

If it is a mechanical timer, they're cheap, so just grap one and put it in. If it is an electronic panel, which will cost more, then some more detailed trouble shooting would be appropriate.

There are some forums like repair clinic and do it yourself which can offer more detailed advice. All will want you to post the complete model number, which you will usually find on a tag behind the door.

cycle

The timer controls the cycle so if it does not stop at the off position, the timer is about the only thing that could go bad and cause it.
