As long as the generator is not in the steam room the wiring method can be any that is outlined in chapter 3 of the NEC
Happens to sit smack dab in the middle of it along with a laddle and a bucket of water to douse the rocks with to do just that, steam the sauna.

One more question,
Is this steam generator one that sits in the floor and fed from the bottom of a wall mount fed through the wall?
