So many companies have merged, it's hard to keep up with brand names and who builds what.

The Richmond will be the same unit at the 6 year warranty GE. The 9 year and 12 year GE's are still basically the same, with a few bells and whistles.

My neighbor had his WH die Friday evening. Bought a GE from HD. $100 extra gave him a transferable warranty to replace it for lifetime. I didn't read the fine print, but it seems like a good buy.
