Hi - thank you in advance for any advice....
I am replacing an existing built in soap dish with a new soap dish. The soap dish is built into the wall.....
- need to grind or cut existing ceramic tile about a half inch...what is the best way -

Agree with the above. In addition, there is a diamond wheel available for the RotoZip which is good for this application.
Depending on the tile, the RotoZip tile bit (the carbide one) may not cut the tile. If it is fairly soft wall tile, yes, but many times a harder tile is used in showers - if so, the diamonds are your friend. Wear eye protection and a dust mask.

Another suggestion would be to have someone hold a shopvac hose close to your grinding. Sure will reduce greatly the mess they can make.
