I'm fixing a leak on an older Kohler tub / shower faucet with a center handle shower diverter. The diverter valve is badly worn and leaking and the diverter port doesn't look too good either. If I were to cap off the port for the diverter and installed a tub spout with a diverter, would that work or is that too simple?

I would take a digital picture of the valve, and contact Kohler for parts.

They are pretty good about carrying parts for the faucets.
