Hello,

What is a safe height for a bathroom sink backvent? I need to jog the pipes to avoid a built in medicine cabinet. Is 6" above the top of the sink acceptable?

I live near Chicago. I have conflicting information in my plumbing book.

Thanks,
Steve

the conflict is probably because it says 42" above the floor or 6" above the fixture. The safest way is 42" but that is in the code in case the a higher kitchen sink is connected to your bathroom sink's drain.

Hello,

Thanks a lot. That is exactly what was confusing me. I kept thinking that I might need 48" to be conservative. It seemed a little high....
