Hi all. I'm putting the finishing touches on a custom tile shower. Everything turned out great except I cannot get the stub out to stop leaking behind the shower wall. I need to close the outside of the shower with drywall and finish the rest of the bathroom, but not before the leak is resolved.

I am using a 3" straight chrome nipple through the wall and into a standard 90 degree fitting (w/ teflon tape). I cannot torque the nipple hard enough to thread it all the way in. I do not want to crack the fitting or break the solder connection. The leak is definitely coming from the threaded connection.

Any tips would be appreciated.
