Bought an old house on a well. Hooked up to city water but left the well on the outside hookups to fill pool, etc.

After a drought, lost prime. I have two black pipes coming out of the basement wall from the well and going to the pump.

What pipe to I break into to prime? I have tried the larger one, and only get a trickle for 2-3 minutes. The pump is very old, but worked for a family of 5 for years. Could the seals be bad?

What else could a lack of water in the well cause that would work previously.

You don't touch those two pipes. You remove the prime plug from the pump to prime it. The pump and those pipes all need to be full of water to pump water.
