Hi,
I'm trying to install a new faucet on an old clawfoot tub in a hundred year old house. The connecters are bevelled to match the existing faucet. The current supply lines are iron, with a short section repaired (?) with copper on the cold line.
Our plumbing supply store suggested that we have the new faucet bevelled to match the supply lines, but the machine shop we then went to refused to do so fearing that they'd damage it. They gave us bevel adapters that are too long to work, so I'm looking for other options. Can pressure fittings be installed on threaded iron pipes? Should I get a wrench and try to unscrew the bevelled connectors? Should I get my dremel and bevel the new faucet myself?
Any advice would be appreciated.
