I wanted to remove my shower/tub fixtures to regrout and was wondering how they come off. The shower/tub is vintage 1920s. Do the fixture covers (metal part immediately against shower tile) screw off? The only fixture with a nut molding is the diverter cover; faucet fixtures are smooth. Also does the bath spigot just unscrew too? Don't want to break anything.

I can email a picture of the fixtures (too big to include in post).

Thanks,
John

Without seeing a picture no way of knowing.
Could be anything, spout for 1920 would normally be threaded on.

Here's some pictures of the faucet, spigot and diverter.

The handle cap unscrews and then you remove the screw holding the handle on. The escutcheons and spout also unscrew. You may have to keep track of which is the hot and which is the cold escutcheon in case they separate from the faucet body in different locations.
