I am pumping water from Lake Erie for lawn irrigation. I am using a 1 1/2 hp sprinkler pump with a sand point laying on the bottom of the lake. I have had no problems until this year when green algae is now present in the water. The algae clogs my sand point where I have to clean it every 30 minutes.
The algae is present from the bottom to the surface of the water. The depth is 3 feet.
Any suggestions to an alternative to a well point.

Thanks
