Thread: Tub Installation

  1. #1

    Default Tub Installation

We're putting a tub in an alcove, and the manufacturer recommends using roofing nails to secure the flange around the top of the tub to the studs. However, looking at the package of the galvanized nails, it says that the nails should not be used where surface rust is unacceptable. What material should the nails be made from? We obviously don't want rust seeping into the tub. Thanks for your advice.

There would normally never be any water at the top of the tub flange.

You could always use SS screws with a washer instead...less chance of slipping and banging something with the hammer as well. But, it shouldn't get wet.
