I'm new at dealing with sprinkler valves. I have a Rain Bird 100DV as part of a system. It controls a 200 foot drip line and is the only station on the clock. The clock programs o.k. but the valve will only work manually, the clock will not shut it off. Is the valve faulty? How do I test it before I dig it up?

Look for a loose wire at your control box. If you can't find one, look for faulty wiring at the valve.

My first suspect would be the ground wire connection to the solenoid. Next would be the hot wire, and then the actual solenoid. Last on the list would be the valve itself. Valves can be rebuilt without digging.
