any ideas??? DELTA SINGLE KNOB SHOWER-REPLACED WITH PP SINGLE LEVER

Well, the title prtetty much says it all. Found out, after the Tile man replaced the 18 " tile around the THE EXISTING valve body of the Delta KNOB [drew a circle and cut it out] that the new Price Pfister shower lever requires another VALVE BODY[?] From what I am told the only thing that can be done is to take the tile out so we can get to the valve assembly to change it to the PP valve assembly? ARE THERE ANY IDEAS OTHER THAN THIS

Rebuild the Delta and leave it alone...you normally wouldn't need anywhere near that much area, although it certainly makes it easier for the plumber to do the work. Pretty much all valve bodies can be repaired with just the area of the eschutcheon. Now, if the valve body is shot, you need more.

The problem is MY WIFE ordered NEW PRICE PFISTER LEVER HANDLES to match everything else. Can you rebuild the delta to adapt to the PP?

Most fixtures are not interchangeable. You will probably need to return the PP stuff and replace with Delta or replace the whole valve body. Can you not get to the valve body from behind the wall and leave the tiles alone?

Can you put a Ford Mustang muffler on a Chevy Camero? Same idea with plumbing trim pieces...very unlikely.

tell your wife that brand is junk.....

and any tile man worth his salt should have told you
this would not work out....before the job was started
if he has tiled more than a few bathrooms he should have
KNOWN from experience......

that brand is not too good at all and if you can just find the trim kit to match as close as possible the rest of
the PP junk you bought you will be better off.

Most on here do think highly of Delta. Some of us also have a decent impression of Price Pfister. However, it is absolutely true that there is NO mixing of parts between brands. Even between models of a particular brand there is not always compatiblilty.

I just did one where the customer ordered new Moen trim for the shower. They sent him trim for the new version, but he needed trim for a Moentrol, and it did not fit. If parts for the same manufacturer will not interchange, what makes you think that parts for different manufacturers would be compatible. And why would a manufacturer want to make something that you could change to a different company later? Find Delta trim that is close to what she wants or redo the shower valve. And when it comes to Delta trim you also have to know the version because it is also not interchangable with all bodies.
