Net Gear wireless adaptor

Have high speed internet main computer cable, second computer set up with net gear wireless adaptor. Will a third computer work if I get another net gear wireless adaptor?

I have a wireless router, and yes, you can run lot's of computers with it.
Some are wired, some are run using the wireless.
I use a code so neigbors can't log onto the network.
It's kind of cool to use a laptop in the living room, and be able to print out on the office printer.
All of the computers can print from the same printer.

There is a practical limit on how many wireless connections you can have into one router, but you typically won't run into that in a home environment. Just make sure, as Terry said, you turn on the encryption. You'll need to do that at the router, then at each wireless connection. You can set up the printer to be shared along with files on each of the computers, but that is a windows thing, and has little to do with the network. Keep in mind that your internet connection is being shared between all of the connected computers, so if each of the kids are trying to download the latest movie or music, it will be slower for all, but they'll still be connected. Moving files from one computer in the house to another doesn't affect the internet connection speed.

On some of the new Directv dvr's, if you have the right win operating system, you can play videos and show pictures or music from attached networked computers. Neat.

one suggestion I will add.

Make sure it's wireless G or wireless N and not wireless B unit.

The wireless B encryption can be easily cracked if you should be using any confidential stuff.

If you go to your routers website there will be info there as to what type it is if you enter the model number which is usually located on front or bottom of the unit.

Netgear makes a dandy print server, too

If your printer is connected to a PC, then that PC must be on, and some Windows magic must be done to allow it to be shared to other PCs. Netgear (and probably others) make a family of print servers which allow any printer to be set up as a network printer so it doesn't require a PC server. Comes in several configurations, wired and wireless, works great, inexpensive (~$60).

Even more imporant than using encryption, change the name of your SSID to something other than default, preferably something complicated and most important turn SSID broadcasting off.

When you configure each computer you will have to manually enter the SSID since you won't be broadcasting.
