Chrome Drain Pipe to Cast Iron

In redoing our bathroom, I found a chrome 1.5" pipe connected to cast iron. Is there a fitting out there to connect the chrome to pvc? Or is it best for me to remove the chrome piece? The chrome pipe was previously hack sawed and has some wrench marks and slight indentations... Originally, it was plummer puttied all over and leaked. Anybody seen this before? Thanks a million.

Do your self a favor and cut out the whole T and hub below it and replace it with a PVC T, pipe and use banded couplings to connect it to the existing pipe. Get as close to the floor while leaving enough pipe to do the job and then a little more incase you make a mistake. I would also replace as much of the vent pipe as you can also. Be carefull when you cut the pipe it may need to be supported, looks like 2". You could also install a C/O maybe in the room behind the sink if it's not going to be finished.

You will be way ahead of the game if you do.

Cass's solution is optimum, but if you're not up to cutting cast iron, you can clean out the fitting that the chrome goes into, get a Fernco donut to put in the fitting and come out with 1.5 PVC and solvent weld an adapter that will accept the tubular brass or plastic trap.

Cass is right on the money... cut the whole thing out and replace with plastic.It will make things easier in the long run.

for those following, I've decided to remove the T and replace with ABS and connect to the Vent above and Cast Iron below. Then attach a marvel fitting... Thanks all for your help.. I probably wouldn't have had the guts to do this without your input.

p.s. the 1.5" chrome is indeed soldered with lead.

In my NSHO I think your making a big mistake by not cutting the cast at circle #2 and replacing it all. It is so easy now and would take hardly any time to do. Even if it took you a whole day, which it shouldn't, it would be well worth the time and few $$$ spent.
