I recently discovered that my central heating would not run unless the hot water system was on.After two visits my plumber discovered that it was only the hot water that had a cut off valve. This plumber has done substantial work on the system over the past 6 years.
He has now charged me £500 for installing a CH valve which I understand relies on a signal from the room thermostat and the CH timer to switch on the boiler. Is this a reasonable charge?
Before this mod I had to keep the thermostat up to 25ish to get the CH to work.We now seem to be comfortable at 20C; will the mod mean less gas will be used?
Appreciate any explanation of the above
thanks
