I am in the process of tearing out the old tiled shower. The floor to the shower is tiled onto elevated cement slab. Do I break up the existing cement slab to get to the current drain pan? If I do this, how can I tell if I am breaking the slab to the house or if its a subfloor? Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
