Okay thanks, wasn't planning to get anything very deep (digging out 24 inches is going to be hard enough) when you say foundation footing, are you talking about the bottom of the concrete? Or the...

Thanks for the link, so wondering, what makes something a crawl space basin, vs a sump basin? I can see that the sump basin holds more (gallon rating) also doens't have the pre-drilled holes (think I...
So, an update, after having 2 inches of water in the sub-basement this morning (yay!) I went for option 2 to start with, so far I've jsut replaced the pump, got a Rigid pump with a float that goes up...
We HAD a sump pump under our house, tonight because of the crappy installation (I suspect a cheap/DIY job by prior owner) tonight after heavy rain, it broke (it turned on, the float got stuck, didn't...
cacher_chick,
Once again, thanks for the valuable information and ideas, around here (Northern CA) only really rains from December through April (at least in the past 2 years that I've owned a...
Thanks for the info cacher chick, will probably do as much investigation as I can WITHOUT cutting any piping, not sure on my skills at putting it back together and having it work right :P
What I...
Right now I have a sump pump in my dirt crawlspace, while it does HELP with the water under the house problem, I honestly think it was installed by a complete amateur (or a cowboy if you prefer the...
Any recommendations on places to test it then? I'm vaguely thinking a drinking water test might be interesting... but I'm not sure, just trying to get some idea of costs and ability, unfortunately I...
Grass and such I'm not sure I care about, it's more the vegetables that I worry about, with the gpm rating of the hand-pump I should be fine then, since that's probably quite a lot less than 1gpm,...
Does anyone have recommendations on companies/tests for this?
I have a well (as discussed before) I now have a working inertia pump, and am slowly continuing to try to get the pump that was...
Generally from everything I've read, a submersible pump is MUCH BETTER for a deep well than a jet pump.
That's my opinion.
My thoughts (and I'm not hugely knowledgable but have done SOME digging around)
I don't see why you'd need a new well, UNLESS the well is dry AND unable to be made deeper, not sure if you can open...
I'm thinking of starting simple and putting together an inertia pump and then slowly seeing if I can get back to my jet pump (and get that working).
For now I just want to go with the basics, for...
Persumably volutes are the channels that go from the center of the Impeller out towards the edge (that spin the water out thus gaining pressure?) if so, yes I did clean them out, just trying to...
Okay thanks for the advice, think it's something I'll slowly work on at some point, right now I've got too many other things going on to even really think about this (was hoping it might be a quick...
Bob,
Thanks again for the response, just to confirm, all you need is a pump with an impeller and you can pull up water? Or I need to adjust and add something else as well? Just trying to make sure...
Yeah, I'd read that having popup's and impacts on the same zone was bad, but you deal with what you get, in this case I got popup's and impacts in the same zones, I have to assume that at some point...
Bob,
Thanks for the response, any information/help gratefully recieved. The pump needed to be taken apart because the impeller wasn't spinning (because of all the rust inside the body of the pump)...
First post, and I'm completely new to pumps and wells (and all that they involve).
This weekend decided to figure out the well pump that's on my property (located in El Cerrito, Northern CA),...
First post, so I'm hoping I don't make too many errors in etiquette.
I brought my house last year and as part of annual checking figured I'd make sure all the sprinklers that the prior owner had...
