Ha. My toilet drain pipe goes "sideways" for over 20 feet before leaving the house.
Just follow the directions in this YouTube video. I did, and everything worked great when I anchored my closet flange recently.

Also, sometimes the real thin areas can just be rubbed off with your fingers. Start rolling your fingertip over top of the film and it should lift and peel up off of the tub.
