Ray, My personal waterwells have Franklin 1 hp motor operated pumps and have been untouched for over 20 yrs. Somedays I use as much as 1000 gallons due to watering livestock. That's on a tank with...
Do you have a submersible pump, or one up top? If your pumping the well down to the intake level you should have more indication of that than just some air in the system, I would think. LB
The line from the pitless to the tank runs underground in most cases. In case of a small leak in the pipes in your well and a small leak in the underground pipe and while the pump is not running...
Yep---plastic inside, like everything else. Only advantage to the metal top is you don't have to worry about cracking it when you screw something into it. Otherwise might as well be plastic too....

[QUOTE=dtbmous;145499]I have an 825 foot deep well. The well driller feels that the recovery rate of the well at 825 feet is 5 to 6 gpm. The well has a deep static level around 400 feet. At present...
20 to 40 yrs is most common for a submersible to last in my area. Still a few Reda pumps down. And you know how old they are. That's not using switching or speed control other than a pressure...

I'm with Mr. Lee on this one. I had a 2 hp farm use motor that had a problem like yours. You hit the switch and maybe it starts and maybe it hums. You shut of and hit it again or maybe again it...
I notice you say seems to be on. So it must be a submersible pump? Otherwise you would really be sure it was on. You didn't say too much pressure was being made so either the pump has a problem and...
