I'll pick up some razors and a 1/16" grout removal attachment for my dremel multi-max.. I will tackle this project this weekend. Any particular grout mix that's recommended for this? I won't need...
Is there a tool outside of simple grout scrapers that I can find at the hardware store that can get in between these tiles?? Some of these grout lines are just too narrow for a tool it seems.
The shower is used daily, yes.. 3 times in fact. It's the only shower. It is possible to time it so that it can be un-used for a couple days if necessary. So far for cleaners it's just really...
Thanks, Terry. That buys me time. Although 60+ years is probably well beyond the life of the pan.. let's hope it lasts another 60.
I'll regrout this weekend. Any tips outside of the standard...
My 1949 shower floor is missing grout, although I've never seen any signs of leakage on the ceiling below...
So, couple questions. How the hell is nothing leaking with this much grout missing?...
I'm calling a plumber to fix/snake the drain but I'm also asking if it's best at that time to have the washer set up so it drains into the pipe.
Would it also be ideal to set up the washer so it drains directly into the pipe instead of the utility sink? Or for older homes does this not matter? I guess I'd like to have the laundry sink's...
Would the snake get entered into that cleanout access point in the second picture?
would snaking a corroded pipe be a bad idea then?
probably years of lint build up somewhere in that drain?
My laundry sink drain is very slow. When a large wash is done, it fills up to only an inch away from the top. I'm cheating a flood every time a wash is done.
I unscrewed the trap plug and all...
Well I guess I'm just trying to figure out a way to fix the slow drain. If I can't do it myself, that's fine, but I don't know how much it's worth is all. I'm all about the DIY but this is beyond...
My 1949 house seems to have two different venting setups.. is this common or even possible?
The cast iron stack has a vent pipe through the roof. However, there's a couple galvanized pipes that...
I was afraid of that. I hate giving my main shutoff valve attention.. it's a 1949 so the more i turn it off the scarier I get at it breaking. The drip is almost worth it.
This is what's behind the access panel in my bedroom, which is the back of the tub faucet in the bathroom. I have a leak (drip drip drip) and before I take the handles off to get a look at the...
The screw holes only the washer in place. The retainer removes much like an erasor head on an old no.2 pencil. So it's got a "nipple" that fits into the rest of the stem. Initially I thought it...
What would this cost? On a 1949 shower with just a hot & cold handles?
Trouble. I took it out and as you can see, here's the entire piece. The problem is the washer seat. The arrow is pointing to it. That piece is no longer connected to the rest of the stem. It...
I have a shower that I think is original from 1949. Not sure if the hardware has ever been replaced. It's a two handle shower, I believe it's "compression" type.
I have a leak indicated by...
