Was afraid someone would say that. Anyone have experience with this particular valve or similar that says differently?
Not sure where our calcs went wrong but we've got an American Standard R540 valve installed--very difficult to move at this point!--and the tile guy says that the tile will end up about 1/8" proud of...
Finally broke down and had a plumber come by to see if they could quickly install a cast iron tub and a steel tub for me. They wanted $3500 so I am back to DIY mode.
One tub is cast iron and will...
Well these are the sort of replies I was hoping for! Thanks everyone.... was afraid I was fooling myself into thinking there wasn't a problem when maybe there was.
We just did our pressure test for the DWV system. It is a two-story house w/ basement and there is a lot of 4" cast iron. We filled up through the roof w/ water and it was holding for over 2 hours...
I understand the wet vent is to code; but also that code specifies the minimum functional requirement, not necessarily the BEST. It seems wet venting would be inferior to normal venting... is it?...
Its (mostly) just you. :)
Mine occasionally loosened but not often enough or regularly enough to be memorable as a problem. Are you using the graphite lubricant on the head? My 1/2" nose does...
OK. I don't have a die to cut threads into rigid steel pipe so I will have to transition from the nipple to plastic somehow... what is the connection for doing that? Can I just get a female ABS...
I have an old-old cast iron double-bowl laundry sink in the basement against an exterior wall. The bowls are about 25" apart. I am thinking I can get a Continuous Waste Kit (or make one) to connect...
We have a double-basin laundry sink and the drain is to the right of the whole thing. Do I need two traps or will one suffice--taking one sink basin to the next and then into the trap?
Take careful measurements... CALL FERNCO they will be able to fabricate an exact match most likely... they have many moulds that they do not necessarily keep stock for and you may probably will not...
It's been over 4 days and I still do not see any sign of further leakage. I contacted Amer Std and they checked a unit at their location and said that this plug would not unscrew... it is factory...
We have an American Standard R540 valve, which comes with a brass plug installed for the tub outlet. Originally I tried to unscrew the plug with an adjustable wrench but when it would not budge and...
Is there a way to visually inspect water heater elements to see if they need replacement? Our tank happens to be empty and hasn't been in use recently so before we refill it and hook it up thought...
Is the use of crimps and Uponor tubing officially sanctioned? For an amateur doing his first/only PEX work, I'd be hesitant to go with crimps on Uponor unless it is officially sanctioned. Didn't Zurn...
I'll also recommend Uponor... though it's all I've used... I can say that I've plumbed and entire house as an amatuer and I think had zero leaks for the pressure test. The tool can be found online...
Regarding the nipple coming off the finish wall... usually I am putting galvanized test nipples on with caps and then after finish wall is in we substitute the brass nipples. In this case for body...
If the PEX would bend tight enough I would eliminate fittings. I just haven't done ANY copper so I keep putting it off... guess I could give it a go though.
Terry, wouldn't upsizing to 3/4" work...
Would this loop design work?
Assuming we go forward with this, was wondering how to plumb it. Even for 2 sprays it seems the mfgs (in this case Danze and Moen) are calling for a pressure balancing loop, and also for a brass...
No we have not tiled yet. Its also not out of the question to upgrade to 3/4" PEX if it is absolutely necessary. We have very high pressure and will be using a PRV (this shower is on 2nd fl) to set...
We have a shower plumbed with 1/2" Uponor PEX with an American Std R520 and a 10" Amer Std Rain Head. Can we add 2 body sprays to this set up? If so, would we need to put the sprays on a diverter to...
Does it matter if pressure reducing valve is placed before or after the building supply main on/off ball valve?
I believe the tub filler at this link can be wall-mounted. The instructions can be accessed via a link from the link as well as the schematic.
Am I correct in thinking these can be wall-mounted...
