Would anyone care to comment on tiles set directly in contact with tub deck (at two points - one of which spans 30 inches). What sort of issues might arise (if any)?
Hal - you just wrote the tub is coming out?
OMG - From Bad to worse.
This is what happens when Hacks show up. You did everything right Hal it seems except for trusting your gut earlier and walking this crew. I would have told these guys to get the **** out as soon as I knew they showed up with no tub and floor protection and had no level.
Now you need to re and re the tub? It's going to get worse. Not better I'm sure.
Tub will be replaced, but, they would be installing new tub and surrounding tile in-line with existing grout lines (i.e. I suspect there would again be contact)
The tile should not touch the tub. This can led to squeaks. It can led to grout cracking and on and on.
Keep the tile 1/8" off the tub to 3/16".
How much have you paid this crew all ready? Careful you do not "Top Up" and then get ****ed.
I would be holding back payment until all work meets your expectations. I would further outline your expectations going forward.
Who recommended this company you are working with? Could you send me the name of the outfit so I can warn any of my clients in Toronto going forward of who not to hire?
