Using Kerdi Band over Green EBoard to seal to the tub's tile flange
A few more pictures of the work done yesterday to seal the waterproofing to the tub's tile flange.
I used kerdi band and kerdi fix to seal the Kerdi Band to the tub. Then Ardex 8+9 to wrap the whole thing up tight.
Unlike Hydro Ban and Kerdi
unlike Aqua Defence and Kerdi
Unlike HPG and Kerdi
Or Red Guard and Kerdi - Ardex 8+9 and Kerdi are designed to work together.
The waterproofing here (Ardex 8+9) was installed around the top shower head and then sloped down to about 6' above the tub on the far wall. This is a topical approach and using Kerdi top seal the bottom is not a wise idea unless you topically seal the entire shower wall. If you choose not to go topical then the Kerdi should be sealed to the tub deck and placed BEHIND the backer board. I would use building paper or poly lapped over the kerdi to improve this basic building plan.
Don't mix up the systems here! JW
Green EBoard Shower Update
Wanted to share how this tub shower is coming together.
Here are a few progress pictures of the shower build above coming together....

If you look at the bottom of the tile install you will see a gap I left for silicone. It's hard to tell in the picture but the inside corners are all "Laced" and no silicone will be used on this shower's inside vertical corners...
