Pressurizing tank with no blatter

I have a tank that has no bladder in it, i'm replacing my 1/2 horse fairbanks morris pump with a ace hardware 1/2 hp shallow well jet pump, it has 2 places my air line to my tank could fit one is in the inlet and the other is at the bottom of the housing where do I connect my line to pressurize my tank? Also, my inlet pvc pipe going down into my well from my pump is only a 1 inch, the old pump and the new pump has a 1 1/4 inlet and a 1 inch outlet should i change 1 inch pipe to a 1 1/4.
