I have a Kenmore water softener. It's about 6 years old, never had a problem with it until now. It is only supposed to recharge on an as need basis, but we had a power outage recently and ever since our softener is recharing every 2 days. I went through and checked all my settings, and they are correct. It shows it to recharge only when needed, but it's not doing that. What could be wrong?

If I lost the master programming, wouldn't I have lost my whole display? Eveything else works fine. It shows that is has recharged and it lets me know when the salt is low. I haven't lost any of the display, it just recharges every 2 days, even though it is set to recharge on as need basis.

the answer is no, you wouldn't lose the whole display if something has changed in the prgraqmming. I.E., a bad tv comes on but you don't get all or any channels. Or, the clock works on your clock radio buit you don't get any stations, so no favorite music OR, it fails to wake you on time. I used to troubleshoot radios for a living...

The above "non consumer" means that your manual, their web site etc., is not going to mention the master/dealer programming but... I could be wrong and it isn't anything with the programming but we both agree, it ain't working as it used to and it should be. So call them and run the problem past them and let us know what they come up with. Also check for a serious water leak past the softener that may be causing a regeneration every other day (or we could say every two days).
