I am using Oatey Great White Pipe Joint Compound to seal the threaded connections on a shower valve, and will need to sweat an elbow very tight to this connection. Will the pipe dope handle the heat? Or will this cause problems? Thanks for any info.
It all depends on YOUR technique in soldering. I, and most plumbers, could do it without damage, but then we might also figure out a way to avoid the problem entirely. We do not know how proficient you are, so YOU might overheat the joint and cause the threaded connection to fail, or underheat it and create a "cold joint".
