Moen tub cartridge?

Greetings,
I was having to replace the cartidge for yet a second time in a bit over a year.
My question is this....This is the exact replacement cartridge.

I also see this one, and seems it might fit.

This one is around 9 dollars.So my question is does the 40 dollar one cost that much because its a temp control one? and i could replace with a cheaper one and not car about the temp control part?

You are confused. The $9 item is for a two handle lav or shower. The $40 positemp is for your single handle shower!
