  • Finally found time to spend in the forum. Still working to find someone with the proper equipment to balance the system. I did it by using a large garbage bag and timed the filling and deflating of the bag and adjusted the flow until the filling and emptying times were about the same. Seems to be working well. I can't believe balancing is not part of the business. Must not be critical in large buildings. My woodstove seems to be working fine. I put an exterior air supply on my boiler so that is now independent of the house dynamics. Hope you have had some luck.
    Hi,
Sorry I have not responded sooner - just haven't had time to spend on any forums. Anyway - in March of this year I installed a FanTech SHR2004 - this is a basic HRV with humidistat and basic controls. I found a local HVAC - one man company - and he allowed me to do much of the work. It works well. No moisture problems and we have now had it cold enough outside (near 0 degrees F) on a number of nights and it works well. I am presently looking for a programmable timer to allow me to have the unit operate for 10 minutes every hour instead of constantly. Although it is about 70-75 % efficient at recovering the heat of the house, I hate to be burning oil or wood for heat that gets pumped outside when I know that I don't need the HRV working constantly.
    Any luck on your part?
    Biff
