water pooling around under-slab tub/shower drain (but not above):

Hello all. I've got a roughed-in bathroom in my unfinished Seattle basement. We've had a lot of rain the last few days (so called "atmospheric river"), which we experience 1 or 2 times/year. I noticed yesterday that the dirt around my under-slab tub/shower drain was moist. Today, after much more rain, I now have water pooling around the drains under the slab (see pic)

The water below has not made its way up above--looks like it just barely touched the bottom of the 3 inch slab. And I've never had water show up in the basement (above/on the slab) before. Should I be concerned about this, and if so, do anything else to keep the bathroom area dry before putting flooring in/finishing the basement? I already installed a vapor barrier under the slab, but a bigger rain storm will undoubtedly happen in the future...

A good time to install a sump pump and it can be a huge job. I would cut more concrete to bury a corrugated pipe go take water from that part of the slab to a sump pump buried below the slab near buy. A 2" pipe to the outside would be needed, up the wall then through the rim joist.

It is nearly impossible to stop hydrostatic water. It can only be diverted. It's how many basement slabs crack. I had a home built in Cicero, NY. About a mile or so from Lake Ontario. The basement slab was framed with 2x4 along the outside wall. Before that corrugated pipe was buried and covered with stone. After the slab dried the 2x4's were removed. Hydrostatic water flowed continuously to the sump pump for about six months until the soil grew a turf. It's called a floating slab

Id be real concerned but I havent lived in a house with a basement or known water under it ove 50 years and if i had water 6 inches under my feet right now in my slab house Id be very concerned too
