Updating Kitchen wiring in a 60 year old house

What is the recommend size for the Ground wire in a 50A circuit? Everything is Copper wire. Of Course all the old wiring is pre ground with two prong outlets. Fortunately everything was run in FMC and hopefully I can pull new wire. The stove is also 3 prong with #6 in what looks like either 3/4 or 1" FMC. It will updated to 4 wire as well.

So is that the general rule of thumb? Example: three #2 and a #6 ground.

FWIW, there should never be any current running through the protective ground wire...it's an alternate path to trip the breaker or blow the fuse should there be an error, and if it ever was really used, it would be a momentary surge, so it can be smaller in most cases. https://www.industry.usa.siemens.co...ducts/Documents/Grounding_Conductors_0507.PDF

No as it is usually based on your breaker size. From NEC - Table 250.122
