Each 10" X 54" tank is appropriate for 1.5 ft3 of media + gravel under bedding.

The KL control valve will be programmed as a 'Filter' that will Backwash and Rapid Rinse every 3-4 days whereas the softener will be programmed as a 'Softener' that will regenerate when the 36,000 grains capacity has been consumed.

I don't recall how much hardness is in your water. The hardness amount in grains per gallon will also need to be programmed in the softener controller.

The regeneration time for each will also need to be set for alternate hours to ensure both do not regenerate at the same time. Since the KL Backwash/Rinse cycle will be shorter, you might program the KL filter to cycle at 2-am and program the softener at 3-am. On occasions when both cycle during the same night, a 15 minute BW and 5-minutes Rapid Rinse for the KL filter should conclude approx 40-minutes before the softener's cycle is initiated which should allow some time for the well to recover before the softener cycle commences.

10x54 softener tank should be set to 36,000 for the capacity, 12 pounds of salt. To reset the board you would typically just unplug the power from the board and then reconnect it. Otherwise, remove the power coard from the board, pull the battery, let set for 30 minutes, then reconnect. Why do you want to reset the board? Just program it correctly. As to how much salt, fill the tank with water softener salt, don't make it complicated, just fill it up. There is no programming you can do to lose KL media out of the tank, that would be a function of the DLFC button and the water temperature.
Thanks! Set to 36000 grains even though I have 1.5 CF of resin in the tank?

Programming 36,000 grains capacity will allow your 1.5 ft3 softener to operate much more efficiently than when using a higher setting.

36,000 grains will require only 12 lbs salt to regenerate. Effeciency: 36,000 gr / 12 lbs = 3,000 gr/lb

39,000 gr / 15 lbs = 2,600 gr/lb

45,000 gr / 22.5 lbs = 2,000 gr/lb

48,000 gr / 30 lbs = 1,600 gr/lb
