We are building a small cabin .2 mi. from the main house. Do not have the money to drill another well. Considering trenching a line and tying into our existing well utilizing the main house pressure tank. Any advice and or concerns? What type and diameter of plastic pipe to use? (separate shut off valves at each end will be used).

It depends on how much water you want to use at a time at the cabin. At 10gpm you'd lose 14psi w/1" 4.5psi w/1 1/4" 2.3psi w/1 /12" 1psi w/2"

If you are in a freezing climate the line would have to be below frost or be set up to be blown out if only using it seasonally.

If you are going to be supporting more people you need to consider if the well is capable of doing so.
