S-traps

I understand that S-traps are prohibited in IPC & UPC apparently in all 50 states. So why are they offered through the various home improvement outlets? I understand the physics of why they are prohibited. Is it a technicality i.e. the prohibition is not selling it but rather to install/use it?

They can sell anything they want ti. It is up to the user to the user to comply with the ordinances.

Same reason people sell crack even though it is frowned upon by law enforcement.

demand is there for an S trap so they make em . replacing an s trap is probebly legal on existing . I dont think they are illegal to manufacture and or sell but intersting to se what stamp is on them.
