I like to replace the pump under the utility sink. I the have never seen a utility pump with a smaller copper discharge pipe (I think it's a 3/4" inch)! I like to replace this with Home Depot's Everbuilt utility pump with has 1 1/4" discharge outlet. My questions:

1) What is the best way to adapt the new PVC discharge line to smaller copper pipe?

2) what is that thing (see arrow in the picture) I am pointing to on the copper pipe? Is it a type of ball/gate valve?

3) I don't seem to have enough space between the discharge of the new pipe and the copper pipe to install the ball/gate valve .. what is the solution?

4) Are there any flex pipe options for this setup? I have not purchased the new pump yet, but I feel like I am not going to have enough space to install a valve and also to make the pipes line up. (See diagram of the new pump). Any suggestions?

5) Anything code related I should keep in mind?

Thanks.

There are utility pumps that come with adapters. Some adapt to 3/4 inch garden hose. 3/4 inch GH is different from 3/4 NPT thread.

I am not sure what the device on the copper pipe is. Candidates are swing check valve, and wye filter. That smaller screw on that almost looks like it could be the pivot pin for the swinger. You might disassemble and clean that to see if it looks like it is functioning.

You can adapt pretty much anything to anything. There are flex 3/4 NPT lines for water heaters that might be useful. I don]t picture how the new pump will be. Your existing pump is unlike anything I have seen. I am not a pro.

EDIT: https://redwhitevalvecorp.com/product/236ab-lf-brass-swing-check-valve/ looks similar to your check valve.

The large wall flange that was filled with expanding foam suggests the application was intended for a larger diameter drain line.

Similar to Terry, suggest digging out the insulation to determine if the copper pipe is connected to another type of pipe. Perhaps the original piping was 1.5" PVC and someone has since installed a 1.5" to 3/4" bushing similar to below, to connect the 3/4" copper.

The Everbuilt Utility Sink pump comes equipped with an appropriately sized check-valve, but that check valve will need to be installed in a vertical orientation. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-3-HP-Utility-Sink-Pump-LTS250A/301015850#overlay

An alternative to the pump linked above to gain additional installation options, will be to utilize the Submersible Remote Sink Drain Pump System, but the pump's basin will need to be vented. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Superio...em-Easy-to-Assemble-92072-U/206496580#overlay
