What adapter do I need to connect these? It doesn't connect otherwise, thanks in advance

Its a million times easier to replace the shower arm sticking out of the wall than to find an adapter to fit that one.

it should unthread from a fitting in the wall. Then simply replace with a new threaded shower arm and flange.
