When working with dust I use a squirrel-cage fan to pull fresh air in behind me and take dust away.
Girlfriend's crawl space was filled with many bags of scented cat litter. Previous homeowner's cat had been using the uncovered dirt crawl space.
I placed my squirrel cage blower at a crawlspace vent pulling the dust away as I shoveled the cat litter and soiledirt into buckets to take outside. I am breathing nothing but fresh air and no dust is getting into her house.
