...This jerk I speak of is much like the book trained tech support people we are suppose to take advice from......

RSCB - I have never heard of not using 255 in a steam shower build. The fact that a Laticrete rep told you that sucks. I would be freaking out and emailing Henry and asking WTF. It's so easy for Jim to sit back and play the master builder. He builds nothing. Back in 2004 Jim ordered his first roll of Kerdi. It was in July. In August he started promoting Kerdi and Ditra. He had not even grouted his first project when he assumed the roll of master Kerdi installer.

He asked the boys on John Bridge's forum so many stupid questions from July to Septemeber of 2004. Now ten years later and three workshops we still have never seen his work (even when he said back then he would share pictures). With not a single installation photo, with no completed jobs to judge, he is the undisputed master of everything Kerdi.

I have his posts blocked, as do I have Don's. I ignore these men's posts because they offer up nothing of value.

Jim has a sickness. Head over to the John Bridge forum. Do a search off "Kerdi" in the advanced search engine. Select posts only by Jadausha. Read from his last post backwards. You will see first the dumb questions he asks and then right away his dispensing of info. He asks. Someone answers. He then repeats. The many pros there ignore him as well. Regulary CX pointing out Jim's flaws. He not only is pissing off the tile men here - he is doing it there as well. Messing with the lively hood of working men. He has no shame and his ego is more important to him than anything - he can not be viewed as wrong, because he is JIM - THE GREAT KNOWER OF ANYTHING CONSTRUCTION RELATED.

Thanks to your leaching issue I have learned never to substitute 255 for 254. I never will. Not because some sales rep told me something but because a tile pro like yourself gave me a heads up. For that you have earned much respect from me. It takes a big man to showcase a problem - especially here when the local Kerdi Douche Bag salesman is surely going to blast you. The man is retired and forgets us men need to feed our families. He shits on our work and sits on his holy horse.

I looked up the sales sheet for 255 here - no where does it say "not for steam shower use". You would think that should be printed on the sales sheet do you not.

Speaking of Douche Bag Kerdi Installation Specialists. Have you seen my last blog post? LOL - What a train wreck of a Kerdi Line Drain install.

...This jerk I speak of is much like the book trained tech support people we are suppose to take advice from......

Speaking of book trained Tech Support People. Have you seen the epic fail of advice dispense on the JB forum in regards to Aquadefence over Mapecem in four hours? This from the tech support. I called Mapei - they said 16-18 hours. I've been trained by Mapei. In that class they said 16-18 hours. I read the PDF file - it said 16-18 hours. Yet the new kid on the JB forum representing Mapei's technical team says it can be done in as little as four. To make it worse - then the Ardex dude says his way is faster. Home many keeners will read these posts and screw up job? Because some sales man is selling and the game is speed....

The big man here will surely not challenge these posts - but you can bet he looked up the printed instructions. Had you said that he would blast you. If it was me he would right a novel. But on the JB forum anyone of the top posters posting incorrect facts Jim looks the other way. It's here he feels he is the top dog. Most likely because no one in the industry on John's forum even cares about his posts. After ten years he is like the sound of the highway - it just goes away.

My signature has been messed with by the powers to be. I am not allowed to let people know I do not read Jim's posts. So I guess the only logical thing to do is to stop responding to posts once Jim has written. Jim is not going anywhere - he has nothing else to do. As he ages I bet he gets worse. And I believe we will never see a job build by Jim. A man so proud of being always right would surely show off his work to prove his point. But I think he is no big man, but rather a sick man with some kind of disorder that compels him to always have the last word and always be right.

You can not fight stupid. They have more experience and no downside. Jim is hurting our bottom lines. Casting doubts into people researching facts. he could care less. These forums are his world. What he lives for. SAD.

What a crock. I live for these forums too, cause I want to see the cool stuff that you guys build. You're a bunch of eccentric construction freaks. You should quit it with all your fancy details, and cutting edge design. Do things by the book, and stop coming up with new ideas. Sheeesh.....

Design is one thing, the underlying fundamentals are a totally different thing! The manufacturers tell you which materials will work in a certain situation, how you execute it is your choice. Use a material in a manner it wasn't designed for and you become both the designer and the tester and the warrantor...proceed at your own risk.

Sorry Vegas.

I'm going to place an ad on Craigs List looking for work building showers in Lab Like Settings. If I followed all the rules my showers would not have all the cool LED lighting. Maybe your shower would not have it either had you not seen mine.

Pretty sure I invented the LED shower niche.....

Just saying... LOL

I so invented it Vegas!

Just like in invented the tipped coin method for flood testing showers.

Show me a shower with a LED niche. Prior to the ones I build and shared online.

I'm cutting edge baby.

First fiber optic job with ledgestone. But Holger Invented that - I just built it.

Say it. Come on....

Yes John you invented it...... LOL

Vegas I give credit to the guy on Houzz who first side lighted a slumped glass shower bench. This one. Ever since that day I have been adding lights to my jobs.

Did you see the movie "Blink" - that's my "blink".

I'm good with that. As long as I get credit for the LED Shampoo Niches and Tipped Coin technique. You guys can have the rest.

If you have never seen it before. And you come up with an idea. It's yours. Did someone some where do it first. Most likely.

My inventions are new to me. Outside what I have seen any other installer do. Refinements to improve the look and feel of a space. Or refinements to measure water more precisely.

I never knew you invented electricity. You must be older than me. There are pictures of me as a kid at my Nana's and I see lights on in the kitchen. That was in 1970. When did you invent it? LOL

If we are talking about high end , I guess I can say I've been promoting and doing glass insert panels -- showers -- for about 20 years ........ not really sure who was the first using the idea , but I definitely love it . Not all the glass installers want to work with it -- not fast enough -- , but I like the looks once the right materials and execution are done .

Add an illuminated panel ..... than you can talk about an upgrade to it .:)

This builder I went to see this week is doing some kind of plastic shrink wrap on the ceiling of his master bathroom and dining room. They look like sky lights I'm told later. The cool thing is that the plastic can be printed. The dude hired to do the job is going to photograph the kitchen counter slab. Print it some how on the plastic. And she nye is done it should like a stone hanging above the dining table.

But then you can illuminate it with LED's.

Wish I invented that!

I think so. I never heard of it before. Looking forward to see the final look. I wonder how they address hot spots from the LED's.

I like to use indirect light or a diffuser to minimize hot spots in my lighting builds. The features are going to be huge.

like 5' x 10'
