Delta R11000 - extending unused port before capping?

Installing a Delta R11000 diverter following the Delta R10000 mixer. Diverter will service a shower head and a hand shower with the 3rd port unused initially. I'd like to extend the 3rd port a little ways beyond the supporting stringer so that it is more assess-able (from the back of the wall) in case we want to use it later. I attached a rough diagram. My concern is whether this extension will create a water hammer effect since it is not capped immediately at the diverter. Thanks and appreciate any assistance.

It won't cause hammer.

Good practice is to NOT "cap" an unused port, but connect it to another one so you CANNOT turn off the water by switching to the unused port.
