Have heating pipes running the length of the basement, below ground, a couple inches from the wall and looking to insulate all the walls with closed cell foam. Fittings are all pro press and want to know if the expansion force of the foam around the fittings from the closed cell can cause the fittings to fail. Anyone with knowledge?

Depends on whether the foam is "trapped". Expanding foam will put pressure on plumbing if the easiest way for it to expand is to deform the copper. If the foam isn't trapped and has an escape route, not a problem if you're careful.

I'm not sure though whether having foam in direct contact with heating pipes is a good idea from a material standpoint - you might want to contact the foam company and ask what they think.

I also don't know if the foam will trap any moisture against the pipes, but I wouldn't want that to happen.

Hey, wait a minute.
