I am still going to try and get this well point driven since my table is only 8' but I have another option. I can get my friend to dig me a hole with his excavator about 8 feet deep in a section of my yard that I really did not want to put my well point, but I may consider it.

My question is, if he can get down 8 feet to the point where we may get water, shoudl I just dig down more and put in a casing with a pump and back fill it in, or put in a pvc pipe to the water table, fill it and drop my well point in and then sink it another 3 feet.

There are a lot of threads here that describe how to and what not to do on an 1-1/4" well. Do a search for 1-1/4" wells and maybe a few other terms. You will find lots of discussion. Once you think you have a handle on it, come back and ask questions about what you aren't sure of.
