Thanks all, I did see mention of globe valves elsewhere.
The silt is not sand, it is very fine. It takes a day or so to drop out of solution if you fill up a bucket. The well is in glacial till.
To be clear, I'm hearing the whistling from the dole valve at 40-60 PSI, running it in parallel...
Thanks,
The recovery rate is fine, but the well is very silty. Several professionals over the years have recommended pumping slowly into a cistern to prevent kicking up silt in the well when pumped out too quickly. Dealing with the silt has been a nightmare.
I have a Waterline Controls pump...
I am going to switch to pumping into a 500 gallon tank and then use a submersible pump in the tank plus a CSV to serve the house.
To transition I just made a T off my incoming line so it can feed my existing pressure tank or the 500 gallon tank, with ball valves to control where it goes. This...
Thanks, interesting. In regard to watertight I just mean the type of flex conduit, could be regular flex. I'm just looking for a clean install. How is the pipe typically supported to hang the pump (I'll have it off the bottom of the tank to reduce picking up silt)?
Any pictures of installs...
I'm adding a water tank in my house that my well will pump into and will be pumping into the house via a submersible pump in the tank. What is the typical method of bringing the pump outlet pipe & electrical out of the tank? Seems to me a slip connector that would allow the pipe to pass through...
Thanks so much! Due to the silt and most likely substantial accumulation of it at the bottom of the tank, I would prefer to pump from higher up. Do all the deep well pumps need a flow inducer to work?
Am I on track looking for something like this?

Thank you, that diagram is what i had in mind - any recommendations on pump models?
I'm told I can put a flow reducer in line with my well pump to bring the GPM down, what is actually used for that and how low do you think the flow can be reduced before it's bad for the pump?
Hi all, I have a very silty well, and have gotten by with extensive filters but between the hassle there and the fact that using a lot of water straight from the well kicks up more silt, it's been recommended to me to pump slowly into a tank, and then pump out of there as fast as I need to (and...
Just finished this, took about 30 minutes. Couldn't have been easier. I have long fingers so maybe that helped out. Looks like the piston was shot, the outer coating was scraped off in several places. All good now, no leaks! Thanks for your input everybody.
It does not draw from a solution tank, the attachment on top is capped off. It's just simply a backflushing filter. I thought about opening and checking the condition, but then I'd have to go to all the trouble to disassemble the unit twice, in which case I'd probably just order the parts :)...
Hi everybody, I've got a Cascadian ultrafilter that uses a Fleck 7000 XTR head. I just noticed that it's leaking water to the drain constantly, so I assume it's time to rebuild the valve. It's probably only around 6 years old now, but I'm not surprised given the condition of our water.
As I...
