Ok - I got to the bottom of this on - it was made by Stanadyne, which as I understand it bought Moen in 50’s or so and then Moen started its own company in the mid 80’s. The marking is on the tub spout underneath

To whom may want to help - so I have the same faucet that's in this post. In my case though, I had to break open the tile to stop the leak behind the wall. Now I'm going to replace this all but I have another shower where I would like to just replace the handles. So I've attached the marking...
