Hi, I have a Kenmore Gas Water Heater (153.331690) that blinks on #4. The manual says that the thermostat needs to be replaced. Is this thing available, can I replace it my self?
On line Sears Parts Direct (https://www.searspartsdirect.com/) is still big business and a few stores do remain. Sears parts sells most other brand parts. I still look up parts on the Sears sites since they usually have a better parts listing. Occasionally, I will buy from Sears parts because they'll have it in stock and sometimes at a competitive price.Thermostat? never heard of replacing thermostat, you mean gas control valve? thermocouple?
Is sears still in business? I bought appliance parts there years ago for washer and dryer convenient but quite expensive
I expect it gets its power from a thermopile (several thermocouples in series). I expect it stores energy in a capacitor, and does stuff in bursts with the stored energy.Nosy as I am, I disassembled the old (no spark at all) unit and I am wondering how the LED is flashing without any battery or other power supply?
Buy your failed unit? I don't think so.Could you send me that link? Maybe they are interested in buying my old unit.
This is awkward, but...
