sediment in water line

I rexently had my tub fixtures replaced with a one handle unit. There was cutting of pipes to change the fixture. Now after it has been off for a bit and I turn it back on, the water initially comes out with the rusty color. what can i do about this? was my foxture installed incorrectly?
